I have psoriasis on my elbows and knees and its hideous! It itches like a b*tch and all the doctors do is tell me to put cream on it, but it makes it worse! the doctors say 鈥榯he ointment cant irritate it鈥?but it does so i%26#039;m trying to find out any other ways to get rid of it! Does any one else have this and any suggestions how to get calm it down!
i%26#039;d be really, really grateful for any help as im fed up of wearing trousers and hoodys tryin to keep covered up in this hot weather.|||I used to use Lidex. It has the consistency of Vasoline. Have you tried this yet? If not, ask your doctor to prescribe it. Anytime I put it on, the psoriasis would be gone within a couple of days.
Good luck!|||You%26#039;ve been doing the exact wrong thing by covering up - if you are where it is sunny, expose all the skin possible to sunlight! Its the best natural healer. Some of us have gone through the hassle of going to get UVA or UVB treatments!
I know it%26#039;s hard to have, I got it when I was 22. Get yourself another dermatologist if you are not happy with your doctor. There are times the skin looks worse with a cream, but it%26#039;s actually on its way to becoming better. The doctor will be able to give you more options.
As for the itching, get him to give you a prescription for a good antihistimine. I tried over the counter ones, and they didn%26#039;t stop the itch. Now I use Atarax, take one pill just at night, and it eases the itching the whole next day. Also, use all sorts of creams and lotions from the drugstore to find out what eases the dryness for you. Even noname creams in jars are good. Vaseline is the best but it%26#039;s greasy - try it at night. Vaseline creamy is less greasy.
Good luck!|||I have it on my feet. I take prednisone for psoriatic arthritis and it really helps my feet. Talk to your doctor about that. Of course, there are side effects from prednisone in long term usage. So you have to choose your poison.|||First of all you need to make sure there is no secondary infection, if there is you must treat it first. Then you will need Ultrivate .05% ointment to control it, it%26#039;s the best steroid ointment out there, creams will wash off to quickly. The ointment is used to calm the immune response down that is responsible for the rash, be carefull where you put this stuff, never put it on your face or underarms as the skin is too thin to handle it, all steroid ointments and creams will cause skin thinning over time, but on elbows and knees it should never be a problem, all other non-steriod therapys are barely effective if at all. good luck with the autoimmune stuff because the doctors know almost nothing about it except that for some reason your immune system is in active duty at those spots, The words psoriasis and eczema are just descriptions of what the sympoms look like.|||I used Mushatts for years and it is simply amazing. There are about 5 or 6 products and they are all natural and have no steroids. Plus its over the counter and not too expensive. I think you can get them on their website mushatts.com|||First, stop using the cream since it doesn%26#039;t work on you and seems to make the psoriasis worse. Expose your affected areas to the sun, it can help greatly. Find a more natural solution since they don%26#039;t tend to irritate the skin and are easily absorbed in the sin, prompting faster healing.|||I have a friend who has psoriasis and she said the same thing so she started looking for altenative remydees and she said putting green tea bags on it helped alot and I%26#039;ve seen a BIG difference. She also says drinking green tea is good for other problems so its two for one in my book.
